tuning slide morning boost

Introducting the offical drink of tuningslide.com! I’ve been trying to come up with a health mix for quite a while now, and I think I’ve perfected it enough to share.

The biggest challenge was to capture the nice magenta color of the site in liquid form. I am a big fan of magenta – and its close cousin pink – because of its various visual properties, so it was important for me to figure out a healthy formula that is stimulating and vibrant, not only for your taste buds, but also for you eyes.

So, here are the ingredients for the tuning slide morning boost.

  • 1 large ruby red grapefruit (peeled, with some of the pith left on)
  • 1 large apple (whole)
  • 1 small red beet (peeled)

The grapefruit serves as the base liquid content, tart and complex, with a splash of color. The trick is not to peel it too deep. You should leave a thin layer of the “pith” (the white, spongy substance underneath the skin) which gives a foamy texture to the drink and makes the color more opaque. The apple provides sweetness, some pulp, and a little bit of an orange tint. The beet is of course the boost, both for the taste and color.

The hardware was a Hamilton Beach 67650 Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor, which I think is the best juicer you can get for under $100.

Try it, and let me know what you think.
